UMHCC hours extended to help with the impact of COVID

We have extended our hours to support more people experiencing a mental health crisis.

02nd February, 2022

From 7 February, you can arrive at the Urgent Mental Health Care Centre.(UMHCC) between 12pm (midday) and 5am the following day.

The UMHCC is open every day during these times to help people through a mental health crisis, including weekends and public holidays.

If you can, call ahead on 08 8448 9100 to let us know you are on your way.

Making a referral

SA Ambulance, SA Police and Mental Health Triage can refer to the UMHCC by calling 08 8448 9100 between 12pm (midday) and 5am.

Remaining flexible in uncertain times

The adjusted hours have been determined to best reduce the pressure on hospital ED (Emergency Department) and First Responder teams.

We have balanced these changes with current limitations resulting from the impact of COVID, including delaying the move to 24/7 support.

We are pleased to offer the extended, overnight availability and will monitor the impact of the extended hours for people seeking support and the broader health system. We will keep you updated with any future changes. If you have any questions or want further information about accessing the UMHCC, please get in touch.
